Job Description

Manages the nutrition care process with high autonomy through expanded and proficient experience in assessment, decision-making, and diagnostic reasoning skills utilizing critical thinking in a specialized area.

Essential Job Duties

  • 1. Manages the nutrition care process for the specialty area utilizing advanced health assessment, decision-making, and diagnostic reasoning skills.
  • 2. Performs clinical nutrition assessment (i.e. subjective global assessment).
  • 3. Oversees own case management.
  • 4. Communicates nutrition expertise with all appropriate healthcare providers.
  • 5. Provides advice in specialty area to other related professionals and healthcare organizations eg. document reviews, presentations, panels, etc.
  • 6. Uses resources effectively and efficiently in practice.
  • 7. Mentors staff and students.
  • 8. Evaluates the quality and effectiveness of practice and adopts best practice as needed to improve care in a specialized area.
  • 9. Instigates and/or develops department continuous quality improvement projects, strategic plans, and initiatives.
  • 10. Participates in and applies research to improve patient outcomes.
  • 11. Works with a high degree of autonomy and independent practice.
  • Note: If employee is hired without being a Certified Dietitian, they must become certified within two months of hire to remain in the job.

Posting Specifics

  • Benefits Eligible: Yes, full time 40 hours per week
  • Shift Details: Schedule is Monday through Friday business hours
  • This position will be located at our Homecare & Hospice main office building
  • Location: 11520 South Redwood Rd South Jordan UT 84095
  • Will consider Dietitian I for this position.

Dietitian I Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelors in dietetics, nutrition, or nutrition related field. Degree must be obtained through an accredited institution. Education is verified.
  • Registered with the Commission on Dietetic Registration.
  • Food handler's permit (as required by facility).
  • 4,000 hours of work experience in specialty area, or 2,000 hours of experience and specialty certificate such as CNSC, CSP, CSR, CDE, Certificate of Weight Management, or other appropriate certification as approved by Manager.
  • Successful completion of an approved Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND) program.
  • Demonstrated computer proficiency.
  • Certified Dietitian State of Utah or obtain within two months of hire (see note above)

Dietitian II Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelors in Dietetics, Nutrition, or nutrition related field. Degree must be obtained through an accredited institution. Education is verified.
  • Registered with the Commission on Dietetic Registration.
  • Food handler's permit (as required by facility).
  • Successful completion of an approved Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND) program.
  • 8,000 hours of work experience in specialty area, and specialty certification such as CNSC, CSP, CSR, CDE, Certificate of Weight Management, or other appropriate certification as approved by Manager.
  • Certified Dietitian State of Utah or obtain within two months (see note above.)
  • Demonstrated critical thinking skills.
  • Demonstrated skill, knowledge, and competence in specialty area.
  • Demonstrated computer proficiency.

Physical Requirements

  • Interact with others requiring the employee to communicate information.
  • Operate computers and other equipment requiring the ability to move fingers and hands.
  • See and read computer monitors and documents.
  • Remain sitting or standing for long periods of time to perform work on a computer, telephone, or other equipment.

Preferred Requirements

  • Master's degree in Dietetics, Nutrition, or specialty area. Degree must be obtained through an accredited institution. Education is verified.
